WHY BEADNELL?

Beadnell, a quaint village nestled in the heart of Northumberland, England, paints a picture of idyllic coastal living. Its charm lies in the pristine sandy expanse of Beadnell Bay, which is not just a haven for beachgoers but also draws in adventure seekers. The bay is bustling with watersport activities such as surfing, windsurfing, scuba diving, and fishing, making it an exciting spot for those looking for an adrenaline rush.

Steeped in history, Beadnell is a dream come true for history buffs. The imposing Beadnell Towers and the 18th-century lime kilns near the harbor stand as testimonials to the village’s rich past. The village’s proximity to Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands means there is always more history to explore just a stone’s throw away.

Outdoors enthusiasts will find Beadnell a paradise, with its myriad walking trails including the Northumberland Coast Path. The village’s location on the migratory path of various bird species also makes it a popular spot for bird watching. Boat tours to the nearby Farne Islands provide opportunities to spot grey seals and a plethora of bird species in their natural habitat, offering unforgettable experiences for wildlife lovers.

Gastronomy plays a major role in the Beadnell experience. The local pubs and restaurants serve a delectable range of dishes, with an emphasis on fresh seafood. Every meal in Beadnell is an opportunity to delve deeper into the local culture.

Despite its myriad of attractions, Beadnell retains a tranquil and serene atmosphere. It is less crowded than other tourist hotspots, making it a perfect place to unwind and rejuvenate.

Finally, Beadnell serves as an excellent base for exploring the wider Northumberland area. With short journeys to popular locations like Alnwick, Holy Island, and the Northumberland National Park, visitors in Beadnell are never far from their next adventure.

All these elements come together to make Beadnell not just a great holiday destination, but a memorable one that leaves visitors longing to return.

Food, drink & local amenities

If you want a night off from cooking, Beadnell is home to some great local places to eat and drink. One of our favourites is our very own Beadnell Towers & Kitchen. Set in an 18th Century, Grade II listed building, this boutique bar, restaurant and hotel offers a warm welcome to all. Pop in with the pooch for a post-walk beverage or join us in the restaurant for lunch or dinner. If you’re staying at one of our cottages quote the cottage name and receive 10% off food.

Whether you’re starting the day or ending it, Saltwater Cafe is a great choice for a coffee!

There aren’t many local stores in Beadnell. While there are nearby pubs and cafes, the nearest Co-Op supermarket, butchers and bakers can be found in Seahouses, around a four minute drive away. There is a local convenience store, off-licence and post office in Beadnell at The Sea Breeze. However, the store opens seasonally through the summer and has shorter opening hours in the winter.
